Never use petroleum jelly, rubbing alcohol, lotions, or exfoliating products on temporary tattoos. This will shorten the life on the tattoo and may remove it completely (shea butter, lip balm, and natural oils, such as olive or coconut oil, can be used on henna to protect it and make it last longer).
Frequent washing, rubbing of the area, chlorine, and certain products will shorten the life of temporary tattoos.
GLITTER / MICA TATTOOS
Let dry COMPLETELY before touching it.
Keep it dry as long as possible.
To Remove: apply rubbing alcohol or baby oil to the tattoo with a cotton ball or pad. Allow the liquid to soak into the tattoo for 1-2 minutes, then use another cotton ball soaked in oil or alcohol to gently rub away the tattoo.
HENNA
After Application:
Don't touch it!
Keep it from touching or rubbing against clothing, furniture, jewelry, or anything else.
Let it dry, then let it set.
Paste normally takes up to 20 minutes to air-dry, but varies depending on environmental conditions.
Once dry, you are free to move around as normal but leave the paste on 1-5 hours or as long as possible. The longer it sets, the better the stain!
If it starts to crack and flake off, be careful not to get the flakes on clothing, furniture, or anything that can be stained. Dabbing on a mix of lemon juice and sugar with a cotton ball can deepen the stain and keep the henna from flaking (do NOT do this when it is still wet, as it will smudge the design).
Remove the paste.
For the longest lasting stain: use a spoon or other dull, steel object to scrape off the paste.
You can also remove the paste with water, but the design may fade sooner. Be sure to immediately rinse the flakes down the drain, as the wet henna can stain objects.
An orange stain should be visible where the henna was applied, but it will darken over the next 12-24 hours. For this reason, it is recommended that henna for special events be applied 24-36 hours before the event.
